TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The flame of the 2010 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games was passed to National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, at 10:43 am, May 6th. Holding the flame, Senior Executive Vice-President Huang led students from the track and field team to run around Kuang-Fu Campus.
NCKU Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung promised, “NCKU students whose winning results exceed that of students from the sport universities will be rewarded with NT$100,000.”
“The passing of the flame has the meaning of inheritance. I’m also part of the track and field team, specialized in men’s 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. Even though I’m already 63-year-old, I run as frequently as any young man. My fitness still allows me to do things for the school,” said Prof. Hwung-Hweng Hwung.
Prof. Hwung also encouraged the students, “I have very high expectations for the students. Since I came to the university to study, NCKU has often ranked 1st and 2nd place, excluding sport universities. Apparently the sports level of NCKU is very high, but I hope we can move to a higher level. Students whose winning results in the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games exceed that of students from the sport universities will be rewarded with NT$100,000.”
The running route of Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung and the students began at Main Gate of the NCKU Kuang-Fu Campus. They ran north along Yun-Ping Boulevard, turned left at Yun-Ping Building West Wing, passed Cheng-Kung Lake, Banyan Garden, Department of Architecture Building and Department of Industrial Design Building, and returned to Kung-Fu Campus gate, as students cheered along the running route.
