Greenberg Traurig Announces Only Georgia-Admitted Attorney Certified as LEED Accredited Professional

ATLANTA--()--Greenberg Traurig, LLP today announced that Paul C. Savage, Of Counsel, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is the only Georgia-admitted attorney currently holding this certification, according to the USGBCs online directory.

"Greenberg Traurig has three of the just 30 attorneys nationally accredited by the USGBC as LEED APs; the firm continues to demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability through its Green Building and Sustainability Group to educate and counsel the business community as they make and implement their sustainability initiatives," said Ted Blum, Co-Managing Shareholder of the Atlanta office and Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig Atlantas Corporate practice. "With Paul Savage's certification, Greenberg Traurig has specific expertise vital to helping clients in Atlanta and Georgia become more focused on LEED certified projects, which in turn help make the city and our state a more competitive and attractive place in which to conduct business.

With this certification, Savage joins a select group of attorneys nationwide who have recognized the significance of "green" building trends on the future of the building industry and have responded by getting certified. With Savage's LEED AP designation, firm clients will be able to earn one point toward LEED Certification for their projects, if an accredited professional is not otherwise on the project team. The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

Savage, who is based in Miami, is admitted to the Georgia bar. Savage has more than 10 years of experience in governmental and environmental law, including building code amendments and challenges (most recently related to green building issues); local government enforcement proceedings and appeals; environmental due diligence; indoor air quality issues; water and sewer requirements; coastal construction permitting, docks and submerged lands; and limestone rock mining issues. Savage received his B.S. from the University of Florida in 1991 and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1996.
