|Category Leader Awarded Exclusive Rights to Produce Sleepwear Products Based on Marvel's Ever-Popular, Super Hero Franchises|
Marvel Enterprises, Inc., (NYSE:MVL) a global character-based entertainment licensing company, announced today that it is consolidating sub-categories of its important apparel licensing business with internationally renowned children's sleepwear manufacturer American Marketing Enterprises, Inc. (AME) for the sleepwear category. AME is the leading character licensed Sleepwear Company in the United States, selling to giant retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target & Kohl's. The expanded arrangement with AME furthers Marvel's category management strategy, whereby the Company seeks to enhance the potential market for its licensed products by consolidating key licensing sub-categories with top-caliber partners who can provide extensive marketing and promotional support for Marvel-licensed product lines. The agreement was announced by Tim Rothwell, Marvel Enterprises' President Worldwide Consumer Media Group, and Elliott Azrak, Executive Vice President, AME.
Pursuant to the new, multi-year license agreement, AME has been awarded the exclusive rights to produce and market sleepwear and loungewear, blanket sleepers, robes and convenience item holders for several premiere Marvel character franchises. These include Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Namor, Captain America, and Daredevil, as well as Marvel's pre-school line, Spider-Man and Friends and Marvel's infant brand, Marvel Babies.
