Maroon 5 Announce First National Headline Tour; Singer/Songwriter Gavin DeGraw Selected to Open

NEW YORK--()--Aug. 18, 2003--Octone/J Records recording artists Maroon 5, poised to become the music industry's artist development story of the year, will hit the road beginning September 24 on their first national headlining tour. Coming along for the ride as the tour opener will be critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw.

Maroon 5's debut album, "Songs About Jane," was first released by indie Octone in June 2002. According to the New York Post's music critic Dan Aquilante, "After a year of honing their chops, Maroon 5 is on the brink of major success." Indeed. In the past year the album has scanned almost 200,000 copies, held the #1 position for three weeks in a row on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and is currently #87 on the Top 200. The band has played over 200 live dates cultivating a loyal fan following and toured with John Mayer and Jason Mraz, among others, as well as appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Last Call with Carson Daly," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," "The Orlando Jones Show" and "Pepsi Smash." They have seen their first single, "Harder To Breathe," build at radio from strong spins at Modern Rock and AAA to over 24 adds its first week at Top 40, including an add at New York's Z100 radio. The video is currently airing on VH1's "Inside Track" and was just added to MTV's "Buzzworthy."

Released July 22, acclaimed newcomer Gavin DeGraw's Chariot introduces the world to a vital singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist whose abundant talent and charisma are already well known to New York club-goers.
