2,700 Grads, Philadelphians Patti LaBelle and Chris Matthews to Highlight Drexel's 116th Commencement Saturday

What:   On this "Dads and Grads" weekend, more than 2,700 students 
        will don their gown and mortar board for Drexel University's 
        116th Commencement exercises Saturday. Honorary degree 
        recipients and speakers include native Philadelphians Patti 
        LaBelle and Chris Matthews.

        The parents of Joseph Maglione III, the first U.S. college 
        student killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom, will accept 
        their son's posthumous engineering degree at the 3:30 p.m. 
        ceremony.

        The University's commencement ceremonies are held on campus in
        a single day at its John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center. For 
        the first time, the University is hosting an additional 
        commencement, bringing the one-day total to four. The four 
        commencement ceremonies will be Webcast live at 
        www.drexel.edu.

When:   June 14, 2003

        8:30 - 10:30 a.m.: Bennett S. LeBow College of Business
        Honorary Degree: John Bogle, founder, former chairman of The 
        Vanguard Group.

        Noon - 2 p.m.: College of Arts and Sciences, School of 
        Education and Goodwin College of Professional Studies
        Honorary Degree: Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball 
        with Chris Matthews."

        3:30 - 5:30 p.m.: College of Engineering, School of Biomedical
        Engineering, Science and Health Systems
        Honorary Degrees: John W. Rowe, President and CEO of Exelon 
        Corporation; and Evgeny Pavlovich Velikhov, President of the 
        Kurchatov Institute, Moscow

        7 - 9 p.m.: College of Media Arts & Design, College of 
        Information Science and Technology
        Honorary Degree: Patti LaBelle, Grammy-winning singer, 
        best-selling author and humanitarian

        (33rd and Market streets)
