TestMu AI Makes Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Available on Real Device Cloud Ahead of Retail Launch

Developers can test websites and mobile apps on Samsung's newest foldables, running Android 17, before the devices reach customers

SAN FRANCISCO & NOIDA, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TestMu AI (formerly LambdaTest), the world's first full-stack Agentic AI Quality Engineering platform, announced that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra are now available for testing on its Real Device Cloud. Both devices, unveiled at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event, run Android 17 with One UI 9 and are accessible for live testing and automation before retail units reach customers.

"Samsung has introduced two foldables with opposite unfolded orientations in the same generation, exactly the kind of form-factor diversity engineering teams need to be ready for."

The launch generation introduces a testing challenge new to the Galaxy Z Fold line. The Galaxy Z Fold8 unfolds into a portrait-oriented 7.6-inch display, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the first Ultra model in the Z series, unfolds into a landscape-oriented 8.0-inch display. Two devices that share a name, a chipset, and an operating system present layouts with opposite orientations, which means an interface validated on one can break on the other.

"Samsung has introduced two foldables with opposite unfolded orientations in the same generation, and that kind of form-factor diversity is exactly what engineering teams need to be ready for," said Mudit Singh, Co-Founder & Head of Growth, TestMu AI. "By making the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra available on Real Device Cloud before a single retail unit ships, we are giving teams a window to run their layout suites on both form factors, compare the results, and resolve defects before their users ever hold the hardware."

With the addition of the Fold8 pair, TestMu AI's Samsung foldable inventory spans four generations of the Galaxy Z Fold line across three Android versions, allowing teams to validate a single form factor against multiple OS releases. For web testing, each foldable presents two browser viewports, cover display and main display, giving teams four distinct viewports across the Fold8 pair to validate responsive layouts on real hardware. For mobile apps, the Real Device Cloud enables checks that emulators cannot replicate, including fold and unfold configuration changes, multi-window behavior, cover-screen entry points, and camera, biometric, and sensor behavior on the unfolded panel. Automation on both devices is supported through standard Appium capabilities.

"The gap between announcement and general availability is usually dead time for QA teams, because the hardware simply is not in anyone's hands," Singh added. "We want that gap to work in their favor. Every defect found on the Fold8 or Fold8 Ultra now is a defect their users will never see."
