Ciena Strengthens Leadership Team with Key Executive Appointments

Grant Hoffman appointed Chief Supply Chain Officer

Brodie Gage named Chief Product and Technology Officer

HANOVER, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ciena Corporation (NYSE: CIEN) today announced the appointment of Grant Hoffman as Chief Supply Chain Officer and the transition of Brodie Gage to Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). Both report to President and CEO Gary Smith and serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team. These appointments support Ciena’s continued growth by further strengthening its ability to scale operations while advancing innovation and product leadership.

“As demand for our technology continues to grow, our ability to scale and optimize our supply chain is critical to delivering for our customers. Equally, tightening alignment between product and technology strategy strengthens our ability to bring differentiated innovation to market,” said Gary Smith, president and CEO of Ciena. “Grant and Brodie each bring deep expertise and leadership that will build on our strong foundation and position us for continued success.”

Chief Supply Chain Officer

Hoffman joins Ciena with more than 25 years of global leadership experience across supply chain, operations, and portfolio management, including large-scale transformations and digital supply chain capabilities. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Poly, leading end-to-end supply chain operations and a global digital transformation. He later joined HP through its acquisition of Poly, serving as Senior Vice President of Operations and Solutions Delivery, overseeing a global organization spanning customer delivery and support, field and channel, and operations. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Google, Motorola, and Continental AG.

“It is an exciting time to join Ciena as AI continues to drive significant demand for high-performance network infrastructure, where the company holds a clear leadership position,” said Grant Hoffman, Ciena’s new Chief Supply Chain Officer. “Ciena has built a highly capable supply chain with a strong and trusted reputation for execution. I look forward to scaling these operations and further strengthening delivery for our customers.”

Chief Product and Technology Officer

As Chief Product and Technology Officer, Gage expands his leadership of Ciena’s product organization to include technology strategy under a single mandate. In this expanded role, he continues to lead Product Line Management, Solutions Engineering and Introduction (SE&I), and Quality. In addition, he will partner with the Global Research & Development team to accelerate Ciena’s innovation agenda and drive differentiated solutions that advance Ciena’s industry leadership.

Gage most recently served on Ciena’s Executive Leadership Team as Senior Vice President of Global Products and Supply Chain. He previously served as Vice President of Product Line Management and Solutions since joining the company in 2010 through its acquisition of Nortel’s optical business. Before that, Gage held global leadership roles across engineering, marketing, business development, and product line management at Nortel.

“Ciena’s innovation has always been grounded in a deep understanding of our customers and the networks they are building,” said Brodie Gage, Ciena’s Chief Product and Technology Officer. “A dedicated focus on product and technology leadership together, in partnership with our R&D team, will enable us to move faster, execute with greater consistency, and continue delivering high-impact solutions that address our customers’ evolving needs.”

Both executive appointments are effective immediately.
