Powerful Documentary Featuring Amy Schumer Reveals Marilyn Monroe's Endometriosis Journey and Launches The Endometriosis Collective
Featuring Amy Schumer, Julianne Hough, Brittany Brown, Janel Parrish, Fọláké Olówòfóyèkù, and more, End of the Cycle aims to ignite a long-overdue conversation around a disease affecting more than 265 million women worldwide.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tonight, End of the Cycle, a new feature-length documentary from The Endometriosis Collective, will make its world premiere in New York City, bringing together leading voices across entertainment, sports, medicine, and advocacy to spotlight one of the most underdiagnosed, underfunded, and misunderstood diseases in women's health.
Featuring Amy Schumer, Julianne Hough, Olympic medalist Brittany Brown, Janel Parrish, Fọláké Olówòfóyèkù, and leading medical experts, the film weaves together intimate personal stories, groundbreaking science, historical revelations, and cultural commentary to challenge misconceptions around endometriosis and spark a long-overdue conversation about a disease affecting more than 265 million women worldwide.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET today, End of the Cycle will also be available to stream free of charge at endocollective.org, making the film accessible to audiences everywhere and helping bring greater visibility to a disease that has remained overlooked for far too long.
Presented in honor of Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday, End of the Cycle also shares newly uncovered information about Monroe's experience with endometriosis, connecting her story to the experiences of women across generations and highlighting how far awareness, research, and care still have to go.
The premiere will take place this evening in New York City and will include a screening, panel discussion, and celebration. Amy Schumer, Brittany Brown, Fọláké Olówòfóyèkù, alongside co-directors Sammy Jaye and Soraya Simi, medical experts, and additional guests are expected to participate in the evening's program.
The event will also mark the official launch of The Endometriosis Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming how endometriosis is researched, treated, and understood through funding multidisciplinary research and creating programming that reshapes the cultural conversation around the disease.
"By sharing this part of her story through End of the Cycle, we hope to honor her legacy in a way that brings visibility to endometriosis, encourages more open dialogue, and helps inspire the research needed to create change,” said a representative of the Marilyn Monroe Estate.
"For so many people living with endometriosis, the experience is not only physical—it is emotional, isolating, and too often dismissed," said Sammy Jaye, co-director of End of the Cycle and co-founder of The Endometriosis Collective. "This film is deeply personal to me, but it is also a call to action. By bringing together people’s stories, medical experts, cultural voices, and Marilyn Monroe's own history with the disease, we hope to help people feel seen, push this conversation into the mainstream, and build real momentum to drive change toward the research and care this community has deserved for generations."
Despite affecting more than 265 million women worldwide, endometriosis remains widely misunderstood and chronically underfunded. End of the Cycle seeks to change that by reframing endometriosis not as an invisible or niche health issue, but as an urgent global women's health crisis with profound medical, cultural, and economic implications.
End of the Cycle will be available to stream free beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET today at endocollective.org.
Reddit is hosting an Ask Me Anything (AMA™) with End of The Cycle filmmakers, featured experts, and talent on Wednesday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. ET from the Endo Collective Reddit Account.
