Foundational Launches Foundational IQ, Bringing Deterministic Code Analysis to Agent Deployment for Enterprise Data and AI Governance

  • Foundational is the only data and AI governance platform with visibility across every source code layer, application layer, legacy system, and data workload, purpose-built to automate the compliance and governance workflows that matter most in regulated enterprises.
  • At its core, Foundational's proprietary deterministic code analysis engine ensures every LLM-generated output is grounded in verified data flows, making governance responses reliable, auditable, and enterprise-ready.

SAN FRANCISCO & TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Foundational, the data and AI governance platform, today announced the general availability of Foundational IQ, a powerful conversational and agentic interface that thinks, acts, and automates across everything governance. Built on the proprietary Foundational Data Graph, Foundational IQ uses context retrieved from every layer of an enterprise's data estate, from the application and operational layers where business logic is defined, through every transformation pipeline, legacy system, and AI workload across SQL, Python, Java, Scala, COBOL, and many more – to the point of final consumption. Foundational IQ runs natively within the enterprise LLMs organizations already operate, including Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS, so AI workflows execute within existing security and privacy boundaries without data leaving the enterprise's own infrastructure.

Enterprise data governance has long been defined by manual effort and consulting projects. In the past year regulatory requirements such as BCBS 239, HIPAA, the UK FBD, and many others, have joined the already existing requirements from GPDR, SOX, DORA, and others, to require detailed tracing and lineage documentation at an individual field or even record-level that takes weeks to reconstruct. Investigations span multiple teams and systems with no guarantee of completeness. AI deployments stall because compliance teams cannot account for where data originated or how it was transformed. These are not process failures. They are the inevitable consequence of governance gaps that have always existed with traditional tools, and were manually compensated for.

From Context to Action: What Foundational IQ Does

Foundational IQ is an agent system built against a deterministic data flow graph, working as a single interface that can answer questions, create reports, push production code, and run templated and custom agents, all within the LLMs and perimeters of the enterprise environment.

It operates across two modes: Fast mode for immediate lookups and Thinking mode for complex, multi-step analysis. Every response is grounded in the organization's actual business logic and is fully verifiable, with references, code, and context so teams can validate answers and act with confidence.

Foundational IQ enables governance and data engineering work in areas where previously context was lacking for AI, or needed accuracy was not met. Complete source-to-target, lineage audit reports, code for handling database migrations and even PII classification, these are a few among the many governance workflows Foundational IQ can automate across the enterprise estate. Projects that previously required weeks or months of manual work can be completed in hours, sometimes in minutes.

"We are combining two key elements in Foundational IQ that I believe are the key to enterprise scale. The first is our deterministic lineage engine, which now supports practically every coding language out there. And the second is unparalleled context. Foundational IQ knows the organization’s specific business logic, because it has read the code, understood the organization's data flows, and mapped the full estate through the Foundational Data Graph. That specificity is what makes governance actionable rather than directional." — Alon Nafta, CEO, Foundational

About Foundational

Foundational is the only next-generation data and AI governance platform that goes deep into code, delivering complete visibility across the full enterprise stack along with active control of the development lifecycle. While traditional governance tools stay limited to SQL and metadata, Foundational analyzes source code, programming languages, transformation pipelines, legacy systems, and AI workloads to surface the code where business logic is actually defined. Foundational delivers complete source-to-target, cross-platform lineage, proactively prevents data incidents, tracks sensitive data for compliance and privacy, governs AI with explainable lineage from source-to-model, accelerates migrations and modernization, and embeds governance as an automated control layer in engineering workflows.
