This esteemed honor recognizes senior executives who demonstrate exceptional leadership in their organizations and communities. Kennedy is one of 25 honorees selected from a competitive field of 160, evaluated for their strengths in leadership, community involvement and contributions to company culture. Last year, Western Alliance President and CEO Ken Vecchione became the company’s first executive to receive this honor as a 2025 “Most Admired Leader.”

“Barbara is an outstanding leader, who every day demonstrates Western Alliance’s deep commitment to putting people first — our own people, our clients, the members of our communities and everyone who counts on us,” said Vecchione. “As Western Alliance continues to grow as a national commercial bank, Barbara successfully guides our robust talent sourcing and retention programs, all marked by strong opportunities for professional development and meaningful career growth.”

Since joining the organization less than eight years ago, Kennedy has shaped Western Alliance’s Human Resources function into a strategic discipline that supports sustained growth and reinforces the bank’s culture.

“I am truly honored to be recognized as one of this year’s ‘Most Admired Leaders’ in Arizona,” said Kennedy. “I treasure my role, working alongside Ken and the other members of our executive leadership team, in building on Western Alliance’s distinctive ‘People, Performance, Possibilities’ culture that prizes entrepreneurial spirit, agility and being a company that people can rely on.”

Kennedy is deeply engaged in nonprofit leadership across the region. She served as 2025 Co-Chair, Corporate Sponsorships for the American Heart Association’s Phoenix Heart Ball, which achieved a record-breaking year. She has also served on the Valley of the Sun YMCA Board of Directors since 2021 and currently serves as Co-Chair, Lead Change Committee.
