Black & Veatch announces Katie Werner as president of Bird Electric

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Black & Veatch today announced it has promoted Katie Werner to president of the company’s Bird Electric subsidiary, a self-perform electrical construction services provider to electric utility clients. Bird Electric has national reach in emergency power restoration, a key area of growth for Black & Veatch, and increasingly critical across major markets in the U.S.

In her new role, Werner will be responsible for advancing electric infrastructure solutions that support electric utility and oil and gas clients’ reliability, resiliency and storm restoration efforts. Werner brings more than two decades of industry experience, including extensive operational, project management and engineering expertise. Most recently, Werner led complex electric and infrastructure programs for public-sector clients across North America.

“Katie has built her career on building and maintaining strong client relationships and a deep understanding of how to deliver projects safely and effectively,” said Jim Moos, president of Black & Veatch’s Technology, Industrial & Governments sector. “Her leadership experience across engineering, operations and enterprise strategy, combined with her commitment to developing teams and serving clients, makes her exceptionally well suited to lead Bird Electric as it continues to grow and evolve.”

Werner holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Mississippi. She is active in industry and community organizations and is widely recognized for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to employee-owners.
