Parade Technologies Announces Production Availability of eDP 1.5 TTED In-cell Solutions for the Mainstream Notebook Market

TC3408 and TC3410 enable thin panel borders and sleek TCON PCB designs with unmatched power and system performance for LCD displays up to 16.0” and 1920 x 1200 resolution

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Parade Technologies, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), today announced the production availability of the TC3408 and TC3410 devices, the industry’s first single-chip Touch with TCON Embedded Driver (TTED) solution for the 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution mainstream notebook market. These devices deliver extremely narrow panel borders and TCON PCB form factors to enable ever thinner notebook designs at cost-effective price points. TC3408 and TC3410 incorporate the latest power saving features of eDP 1.5 for unmatched logic power performance at up to 120 Hz display refresh rate. The devices combine Parade’s broad portfolio of patented touchscreen technology and market proven eDP TCON, in-cell and high-speed signal technology, to provide excellent picture quality and responsive touch performance.

The devices leverage Parade’s TrueTouch™ patented technology and design expertise, built on the experience of shipping more than one billion touch devices and proven in-cell performance in the notebook market. Parade worked closely with leading notebook OEMs to address their needs for quick time to market, a simplified panel supply chain and consolidation of multiple SKU needs into a single panel with flexible feature sets. TC3408 and TC3410 achieve these goals through extensive system matching across various display and touch configurations and GPU platforms.

TC3408 and TC3410 support 4 lanes of eDP 1.5 traffic at up to 5.4 Gbps per lane. To minimize pin count on eDP connectors, Parade leveraged its high-speed expertise to enable robust and reliable two-lane eDP operation at 5.4 Gbps per lane on glass supporting 120 Hz display operation at WUXGA resolution.

Both TC3408 and TC3410 can share the same glass footprint to allow panel makers and OEMs to plug-and-play their chipset choices according to project requirements. TC3408 does not support Panel Self Refresh (PSR) and Panel Replay while TC3410 does. This flexibility allows our customers to differentiate cost and feature sets based on the same panel. Both devices are equipped with on-chip circuits to support TPMUX-on-glass which enables scaling the limited on-chip touch channels to cover more touch sensors on glass. The high-SNR of the integrated analog front ends (AFEs) ensures excellent touch performance and short touch scanning intervals preserves excellent picture quality.

TC3408 and TC3410 have been adopted and production-proven on all common notebook screen sizes in the WUXGA space. Major well-known notebook panel vendors have also adopted the flexible TC3408/TC3410 footprint. Parade has reduced customer display and touch pre-production build cycles, resulting in development cost saving to our customers in launching new products.

“TC3408 and TC3410 have been great successes with our lead OEM customers. It addresses many of the design and power concerns while offering a very flexible platform to cost-effectively mix and match feature sets for fast NPI deployment,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive Vice-President of Marketing at Parade. “We are the only market provider with a cost and feature optimized portfolio of in-cell chipsets to address the growing demand of the notebook market.”
