RobustISO Family of Dual-Channel Digital Isolators from Diodes Incorporated Enhances Safety and Reliability in High-Voltage Systems

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) (Nasdaq: DIOD) announces the API772x RobustISO™ products, a series of high-performance dual-channel digital isolators, thus commencing the company’s launch of their isolation devices. These devices are specifically designed to provide a reliable and robust isolation solution for digital signals in critical applications—addressing rising demands in areas such as industrial automation, new energy power systems, and data center power supplies.

The API772x digital isolators are engineered to meet reinforced and basic isolation requirements across various standards, including VDE, UL, and CQC. They offer a 5,000VRMS isolation rating for one minute, per UL 1577, and feature an 8,000VPK isolation rating, per DIN EN IEC 60747-17 (VDE 0884-17), with a maximum surge isolation voltage of 12,800VPK. This level of isolation represents a significant differentiation with a higher breakdown voltage exceeding 12kV, compared to less than 10kV for comparable products.

The capacitive isolation barrier employed in these devices, which has a thickness greater than 25µm, is predicted to have an operational lifetime of over 40 years*. This exceeds the standard service life required in stringent conditions. The longevity is achieved through an ON-OFF keying (OOK) modulation scheme that transfers digital data through the capacitive isolation barrier.

These new RobustISO digital isolators support data rates of up to 100Mbps, providing a versatile solution that can accommodate various transmission protocols. The devices feature strong electromagnetic immunity and low emissions, highlighted by a minimum 150kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI). This powerful anti-electromagnetic-interference (EMI) capability ensures more reliable signal transmission, which is particularly crucial in environments prone to electrical noise.

The API772x series operates over a wide supply voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V and features low-power consumption, typically drawing 2.1mA per channel at 1Mbps. They also offer a low propagation delay of 11ns (typ.), ensuring timely signal transferring. The devices provide flexibility in digital channel-direction configurations and default output levels. For instance, the API7720 has both channels in the same direction, while the API7721 and API7722 have channels in opposite directions. Devices with the “F” suffix default to a low output, and those without an “F” default to high.

The API772x devices are supplied in the SO-8W (Type CJ) package and are available with prices starting from $0.46 in 1,000-piece quantities.
