WellSky® Ambient Listening Technology Helps Clinicians Reduce Documentation Time by Up to 50%

AI-powered ambient listening and transcription solution drives measurable efficiency gains for home health clinicians

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Home health clinicians are reclaiming up to half of the time they typically spend on documentation using WellSky Scribe, an AI-powered ambient listening and transcription solution designed to streamline clinical documentation directly within the WellSky Home Health EHR. Agencies are reporting significant time savings and efficiency improvements, enabling clinicians to spend more time with patients and less time on paperwork.

“We built WellSky Scribe and WILA to redefine clinical documentation through practical, AI-driven innovation that supports both clinicians and patients."

Part of the WellSky SkySense AI suite, WellSky Scribe uses ambient listening technology to capture and transcribe clinician-patient conversations during visits, generating documentation responses that flow directly into the WellSky Home Health EHR. Clinicians remain in full control, with the ability to review and adjust documentation to ensure accuracy, while the solution reduces manual data entry and supports faster, more efficient documentation completion.

Since its release in early November, WellSky has enabled AI-powered documentation completion for thousands of home health starts of care. Clinicians across hundreds of home health organizations are actively using the solution, experiencing quick documentation uploads once AI-powered documentation responses are reviewed and submitted.

OSPTA Home Health & Hospice, a home-based care provider in Pennsylvania, reports that WellSky Scribe is resulting in a 50% time savings for its clinicians. For start of care visits, where documentation typically takes an hour when done manually, the tool is helping clinicians save an average of 30 minutes per visit. OSPTA is using WellSky Scribe for the majority of its starts of care and reports additional benefits, including improved clinician satisfaction, and as a result expect to see reduced retention costs.

“Since adopting WellSky Scribe, our clinicians report less after‑hours charting and more meaningful time with patients,” said Jody Henson, president and owner of OSPTA. “It’s been a game‑changer for our organization and one of the most impactful innovations we’ve implemented in years.”

WellSky has also introduced an additional AI-powered documentation capability within the WellSky Scribe workflow: the WellSky Intelligent Language Assistant (WILA). WILA is a conversational voice assistant that provides verbal prompts to help clinicians complete documentation questions not captured during the visit, further enhancing documentation support.

“We built WellSky Scribe and WILA to redefine clinical documentation through practical, AI-driven innovation that supports both clinicians and patients,” said Bill Miller, WellSky chairman and CEO. “Seeing organizations like OSPTA and others realizing meaningful results reinforces the transformative role AI can play in advancing home-based care.”
