HTC VIVERSE and Icosa Foundation Collaborate to Bring Multiplayer to Browser Experiences

New integration allows users to create, share and publish directly from “Open Brush” to VIVERSE for free

BERKELEY, Calif. & TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VIVERSE, the leading 3D content distribution platform, announced a new collaboration with VIVERSE and the Icosa Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to advancing creative technology through open-source development, to adapt Open Brush’s web-viewer into a multiplayer browser experience for the first time. Open Brush is the free and open-source successor to Tilt Brush. The partnership makes it easier than ever to share creations made in Open Brush in an interactive format for free.

Open Brush and VIVERSE are launching an integration that will enable Open Brush users to sign in to their VIVERSE account, press publish and see their creations in a VIVERSE World that can be easily shared across devices. Together, Open Brush and VIVERSE Worlds make it easy for anyone to build, deploy, and discover immersive artistic experiences on the open web.

Open Brush is often considered the industry’s best VR painting tool because it not only combines artistic freedom, intuitive design, and technical excellence, but it’s also the most accessible for non-developers. Users can paint together in 3D virtual spaces, with Open Brush offering a continually updated selection of palettes and brushes.

"VIVE have always been enthusiastic supporters of Open Brush and we're proud to partner with them to integrate direct VIVERSE support,” said Andy Baker, Open Brush Maintainer. “It allows our community to publish their work easily and quickly and allows everyone to explore Open Brush artwork in a form that is both social and immersive."

Open Brush is one of the most popular and user-friendly VR tools available,” said Andranik Aslanyan, Head of Growth, HTC VIVERSE. “This collaboration enables anyone to create VR illustrations and share them with VIVERSE Worlds instantly. It’s another huge leap forward in VIVERSE’s mission to be the most accessible VR platform available.”

VIVERSE has been a key supporter of the open-source community. Earlier this year, VIVERSE sponsored several key open-source projects, including Three.js and React-Three-Fiber. The support of the Icosa Foundation will continue to drive development and enhancements of Open Brush’s 3D and VR tools for the creator community.

VIVERSE recently announced an integration with Wonderland Engine enabling one-click publishing to VIVERSE Worlds. And earlier this summer, VIVERSE revealed universal game engine support, making VIVERSE Worlds the only platform to support the most widely used browser-based game engines without proprietary tools. The platform supports Unity WebGL, Three.js, React-Three-Fiber, PlayCanvas, Babylon.js, A-Frame, and Godot. Adding additional tools to VIVERSE Worlds is another step towards VIVERSE being the friendliest 3D content platform working with the most engines and tools available for content and developer creation.
