Attorneys John Kang and Karen Buresh Join Dorsey in Southern California

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attorneys John Kang and Karen McLaurin Buresh have joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Southern California, the international law firm announced today. John Kang practices real estate law, and Karen McLaurin Buresh is a litigator with a focus on real estate and construction.

Joining as a Real Estate Partner, John Kang represents private sector clients, including financial institutions, commercial purchasers and sellers, developers, and high-net-worth investors. His practice involves a broad range of commercial transactions, including purchase and sale transactions, corporate and real estate finance, capital markets, leasing, and development. John has extensive experience in secured lending, project development, real estate joint venture and equity fund formation, and equity- and asset-based property acquisitions and dispositions. His experience also includes representing both landlords and tenants on a variety of leasing matters. John also represents lenders in the negotiation and documentation of credit facilities, loan sale transactions, deed-in-lieu transactions, forbearance transactions, and loan modifications. John comes to Dorsey from Womble Bond Dickinson, where he was a Partner. John received his J.D. from University of Maryland School of Law and his B.A. in Economics from Haverford College.

Joining as Of Counsel in the Commercial Litigation practice group, Karen McLaurin Buresh advises private companies and other clients in a wide range of matters including civil litigation, project planning, real estate acquisition, project development, land use, zoning and entitlements, environmental compliance and challenges, construction issues, disputes and claims, legislative advocacy, and management of legal teams and staff. Karen specializes in large project development, representing owners and contracts in all phases of project development through completion. Karen also advises clients on their legal obligations under federal, state, and local law, including counseling and guidance on matters relating to the California Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Governmental Tort Claims Act. Karen comes to Dorsey from Womble Bond Dickinson, where she was Senior Division Counsel. Karen received her J.D. from University of Southern California Gould School of Law and her B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles.
