Wellington Management President, Managing Partner and Head of the Client Platform Announces Retirement; Samantha Schoen Named Next Head of the Client Platform

Leadership Transition Reaffirms Wellington’s Commitment to Client Excellence

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wellington Management today announced that Steve Klar, President, Managing Partner, and Head of the Client Platform, will retire in June 2026 after a distinguished 21-year career with the firm. Mr. Klar has played a pivotal role in expanding Wellington’s client platform and strengthening the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional client service and innovative solutions. His leadership has been instrumental in deepening relationships with clients, expanding Wellington’s global reach, and ensuring the firm consistently delivers outstanding value.

“It has been an honor to work alongside so many talented colleagues at Wellington and to partner with our clients around the world,” said Mr. Klar. “I am confident that under its new leadership, the Client Platform will continue to thrive and grow, and I look forward to seeing much success for Wellington and our clients in the future.”

To ensure a seamless leadership transition, Wellington Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Samantha “Sam” Schoen as the new Head of the Client Platform, effective January 2026. Ms. Schoen will report to Jean M. Hynes, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, Wellington Management, and will lead a global team of over 500 colleagues across client and consultant relationship management, product management, funds, marketing, data analytics, and business management. The team is dedicated to being an outstanding partner to each of our clients in providing valuable return streams that help them meet their investment goals on behalf of the millions of beneficiaries they serve.

Ms. Schoen joins Wellington from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where she served as Global Head of Consultant Relations and Head of North America Institutional Distribution. Over the past two decades, she has held senior roles in global marketing, consultant relations, institutional sales, and private markets distribution, and she is recognized for building high-performing teams, driving commercial growth, and leveraging technology to enhance client engagement.

“We are delighted to welcome Sam to Wellington,” said Ms. Hynes. “Her leadership experience, client-centric mindset, and deep industry knowledge make her exceptionally well-suited to lead our Client Platform into the future. Sam’s vision and energy will help us continue to innovate and deliver on our mission of excellence for clients.”

Ms. Hynes added, “On behalf of everyone at Wellington, I want to thank Steve for his outstanding contributions, leadership, and friendship over the years. His impact on our clients and our firm has been profound, and we wish him the very best in his retirement.”

Following Mr. Klar’s retirement and withdrawal from Wellington’s partnership, Ms. Hynes will assume the role of President, in addition to maintaining her responsibilities as CEO and Managing Partner. Wellington will be electing a new Managing Partner in the second quarter of 2026.
