Chelsea Lighting Launches New Shades Division

Industry veterans Michael Berkowitz and Brett Goldstein join to support expansion and strengthen integrated offerings

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chelsea Lighting (“Chelsea”), a lighting and lighting technology distributor with deep project management expertise, announced the launch of its new Shades Division, expanding its full-service offerings to include distribution, installation, and commissioning of shade systems.

With the addition of the Shades Division, Chelsea now offers customers a complete solution for lighting, controls, and shades. The company is partnering with more than ten leading manufacturers, including Mecho, Draper, and RollEase, to deliver flexibility, seamless integration, and reliable execution for every project.

“We’re thrilled to share that Chelsea Lighting is expanding into the shades business, building on our decades of expertise in lighting and lighting controls,” said Sean Lafferty, Chief Executive Officer of Chelsea Lighting. “We see strong integration between lighting and shades. Shades control natural light while lighting controls control artificial light. We're excited to bring this additional value to our clients with a more complete solution.”

Chelsea Lighting has already trained its field service and controls teams on shades integration, ensuring flawless coordination between lighting and shade systems. Its experienced Project Managers will oversee all aspects of orders, scheduling, and installation timelines, keeping clients informed and projects on track.

“To ensure a successful launch, we’ve brought on two industry veterans, Michael Berkowitz and Brett Goldstein, whose deep knowledge and experience will help guide this new chapter for Chelsea,” Lafferty continued. “While lighting has always been our core, shades are a natural extension of what we do, and we couldn't be more proud to welcome Mike and Brett to Chelsea to help lead this initiative.”

Michael Berkowitz, Vice President of Shade Operations, brings more than 20 years in the industry spanning customer service, procurement, project management, and sales. Brett Goldstein, Vice President of Shade Sales, adds more than 15 years of expertise in commercial window treatments, specializing in motorization, custom design, and drapery. Both executives will play a central role in building Chelsea’s new shades business while ensuring the company’s standard of quality and service remains unmatched.

In 2022, the firm opened offices in Chicago and Fort Lauderdale. Through end customer relationships at the Board level and supported by Chicago-based private equity partner, Kinzie Capital Partners, Chelsea continues to expand.
