InfoSec Global, a Keyfactor Company, Secures Second U.S. Patent for Cryptographic Agility

New patent enables cryptographic engine replacement, simplifying transitions to crypto-agile, post-quantum-ready security models

TORONTO & CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--InfoSec Global, a Keyfactor company and a pioneer in cryptographic posture management, today announced it has been issued a second U.S. patent for cryptographic agility. The patent (U.S. Patent No. 12340262), covers an innovative method for replacing cryptographic engines in software systems, marking a significant milestone in the company’s mission to help organizations future-proof their cryptographic infrastructure as they prepare to transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

Cryptographic agility, the ability to quickly and efficiently swap and manage cryptographic algorithms or libraries without rewriting application code, is essential as enterprises brace for the quantum computing era. This latest patent enables applications to dynamically offload cryptographic operations to modular, pluggable components through a centralized API engine. This approach simplifies the transition to quantum-resistant algorithms by enabling more efficient replacement of cryptographic engines within existing systems, offering a practical and scalable path toward crypto-agile and PQC-ready infrastructure.

The newly patented technology builds on InfoSec Global’s earlier foundational patent, which established the overall framework for crypto-agile systems. By allowing cryptographic decisions to be made at runtime, organizations can proactively manage algorithm upgrades, respond faster to vulnerabilities, and adopt new cryptographic standards like PQC without disrupting critical operations.

“This patent represents the next generation of cryptographic architecture — moving from static implementations to dynamic cryptography that can be managed through policy rather than source code changes,” said Vladimir Soukharev, PhD, Vice President of Cryptographic Research and Development at InfoSec Global. “Our first patent in 2014 laid the groundwork for crypto-agility, and this new achievement builds directly on that foundation. Now, organizations can adopt cryptographic changes — including post-quantum cryptography — without waiting on application rewrites, ensuring both agility and resilience.”

Keyfactor acquired InfoSec Global in May 2025, expanding its capabilities in cryptographic asset discovery, management, and modernization across complex IT environments. This patent represents another pivotal step forward in advancing those efforts by making it easier for enterprises to build architectures that can withstand today’s cryptographic threats while preparing for future quantum risks.
