Wysa Acquires Kins Physical Therapy to Close Gaps in U.S. Healthcare

AI company adopts health service to accelerate patient access to clinically proven AI

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wysa today announced its acquisition of Kins, a U.S. physical therapy services company. The move addresses healthcare's notorious 17-year lag between clinically proven innovation and widespread adoption by taking a reverse approach: rather than waiting for healthcare services to adopt AI, Wysa is adopting healthcare services.

Through the acquisition, Wysa aims to close the care gap by making services more accessible, speed up the adoption of innovative AI solutions in established services, and better address patients' physical and mental health needs while keeping healthcare professionals involved.

This "reverse acquisition" strategy allows Wysa to deliver its clinically proven AI directly through established care pathways, addressing the reality that musculoskeletal and behavioral health needs frequently co-exist for the same patient. Wysa and Kins are aligning around a simple objective: deliver effective care in everyday life, not just inside clinic walls.

The integrated approach has already shown powerful results in similar settings. In workers' compensation programs, Travelers insurance found that physically injured employees using Wysa returned to work one-third faster than those without AI support, demonstrating the connection between mental and physical recovery outcomes.

"There is no physical health without mental health," said Jo Aggarwal, CEO of Wysa. "Bringing Wysa and Kins together is a focused step toward closing access gaps across mind and body without adding complexity for patients or clinicians."

"Rather than waiting for healthcare services to adopt AI at scale, we're adopting healthcare services to get our clinically proven technology to patients rapidly, safely, and with clinicians leading care," said Ramakant Vempati, President of Wysa.

"Kins exists to empower licensed clinicians to deliver effective care in the real world," said Dan Smith, CEO of Kins. "Together with Wysa, we will move faster on the problems that patients and providers face every day."

Wysa's AI has been deployed at scale with national health systems and major insurers, including the UK's NHS Talking Therapies, Singapore's Ministry of Health, and Vitality insurance. Wysa's evidence base includes a large volume of peer-reviewed research and recognition by the FDA with Breakthrough Device designation for an AI-led conversational CBT tool addressing chronic pain as well as symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Earlier this year Wysa acquired April Health, which integrates AI-enabled virtual behavioral health services into primary care. The latest acquisition demonstrates Wysa's commitment to blending AI innovation with human-led healthcare services, establishing a new evidence base for hybrid care that addresses complex patient needs at scale.
