Vivint’s Jim Nye Named Chief Product Officer of the Year by Silicon Slopes

LEHI, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jim Nye, Chief Product Officer for Vivint, an NRG company, was honored as the Chief Product Officer of the Year at the 2025 Silicon Slopes Hall of Fame & Awards Gala, an annual event that recognizes the most visionary leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs across Utah’s technology and business landscape.

Nye, who joined Vivint in 2000, was recognized by Silicon Slopes for his leadership and advancement of the smart home and security industry. His many inventions and innovations in technology and user experience have helped Vivint remain an industry leader and customer favorite for more than 25 years.

Under Nye’s leadership, Vivint has introduced many transformational smart home and security products that continue to set industry standards for excellence and customer experience to this day. Vivint has over 400 patents for smart home and security innovations, and Nye personally holds more than 50 of them. He has led the strategy and development of nearly all Vivint’s products and technologies, including the Doorbell Camera Pro with Smart Deter, Outdoor Camera Pro with Spotlight Pro, SmartHub, Vivint app, and every other piece of Vivint’s current award-winning product lineup.

In 2024, Nye was named the Chief Product Officer of the NRG Consumer team. He leads the development and enhancement of products and technologies that combine smart home and security with energy intelligence, empowering homeowners to take control of their energy management with a simple, unified experience.
