HPE Appoints Phil Mottram to Lead Global Sales

HPE veteran Heiko Meyer to retire after 38 years with the company

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HPE (NYSE: HPE) today named Phil Mottram as Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, effective November 1, 2025. In this role, Mottram will lead HPE’s global sales teams across the company’s Servers and Hybrid Cloud solutions, as well as its channel and partner ecosystem. Mottram joined the company in 2019 and has held executive management roles including leading HPE’s networking business for four years.

Most recently, Mottram served as the Executive Vice President of Growth Markets following four years as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE Aruba Networking, where he delivered record revenue growth and profitability through smart innovation, operational discipline, and a motivated sales team. Mottram has more than 30 years of experience in the global technology sector, many in sales leadership roles while living in Europe, the U.S., and Asia Pacific.

“HPE’s global sales function connects our customers and partners with the technology and solutions that power their ambitions,” said Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE. “Phil is an exceptional fit for this role with his deep understanding of and focus on customer needs, collaborative leadership style, global perspective, and track record of driving growth. His experience leading HPE Aruba Networking will facilitate strong connections across the entirety of HPE’s portfolio.”

Mottram is a seasoned technology executive leader who has driven significant business transformation globally for Fortune 500 companies within the telecommunications and IT industries. Mottram also has extensive sales experience, having started his career in sales at AT&T, and serving in sales leadership roles at Sprint, BT, and Telstra before transitioning into business leadership positions at CSL, Vodafone and Zayo.

Mottram holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Lincoln, UK. He occasionally participates in triathlon events for charity, including the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii; IRONMAN Austria; and Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco.

Mottram assumes leadership of HPE Global Sales from Heiko Meyer, who has decided to retire after 38 years with the company.

“As the leader of Global Sales, Heiko led the largest sales transformation in HPE’s history, spearheading shifts in the go-to-market model that more seamlessly connected customers with relevant HPE solutions, while contributing to targeted market share gains,” said Neri. “He is well-known and respected among customers and partners for his advocacy and desire to demonstrate the power of HPE technology in providing business outcomes.”

“I joined HP in 1984 as a student in Germany and immediately connected to the company’s culture of high-performance, customer-first mentality, and community impact,” said Meyer. “Leading our Global Sales organization has been the highlight of my career, as I’ve had the opportunity to meet with customers, partners and team members from around the world. I retire from HPE feeling proud of the team and fortunate to have spent my career in service of our customers and partners. I look forward to spending more time with my family here in the US and back in Germany.”
