“We are incredibly grateful to the American Water Charitable Foundation for their generous support of our Luzerne Learns to Work program. This investment allows us to provide Luzerne County high school students with critical opportunities to explore career pathways, gain access to workforce development tools, and connect directly with local industries,” said Lindsay Griffin-Boylan, President and CEO, Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Business & Industry & 2025 Workforce Readiness grantee. “Through free online courses, career readiness resources, partnerships with higher education, work-based learning experiences, and scholarships, this program helps prepare our future workforce for success. We thank the American Water Charitable Foundation and Pennsylvania American Water for being true champions of the future workforce of Northeastern PA and their commitment to strengthening our region.”

The Workforce Readiness and STEM Education grants are part of the Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. The total award will support high-impact projects and initiatives that further American Water's commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.

Each application was evaluated on a competitive basis, funding programs with strong impacts and measurable outcomes that align with the Foundation's funding priorities.

"We are incredibly grateful for the American Water Charitable Foundation's generous support to provide life-changing outdoor experiences on our waterways to young people without access to such spaces,” said Jerry Casagrande, Executive Director, Wilderness Kids Alexandria & 2025 STEM Education grantee. “Through our water-based education programs, students are learning to swim, kayak, raft and canoe; and in all of these things, they are gaining a greater understanding of and appreciation for our local watersheds.”

Since 2012, the Foundation has invested more than $20 million in funding through grants and matching gifts to support eligible organizations in communities served by American Water.
