Dr. Kristina Zakhary Serves as Preceptor for Advanced Rhinoplasty Cadaver Dissection Course at the University of Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Kristina Zakhary, a nationally recognized Facial Surgeon Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgeon with special focus exclusively in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, recently served as a preceptor and teacher for an advanced cadaver dissection course on rhinoplasty at the University of Calgary’s Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Residency Program.

In this intensive, hands-on training session, Dr. Zakhary guided residents through the full spectrum of rhinoplasty surgical techniques, from foundational anatomical considerations to advanced structural refinements, using laboratory cadaver specimens at the University of Calgary learning lab, to provide an immersive learning experience.

“This course offered residents a rare opportunity to refine their technical skills in a controlled environment, allowing them to gain confidence and precision before applying these techniques in live surgeries,” said Dr. Zakhary. “I am honoured to help train the next generation of surgeons in both the art and science of rhinoplasty.”

The University of Calgary’s Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery program is known for its rigorous training and focus on innovation in surgical education. Under Dr. Zakhary’s mentorship, residents received individualized instruction in both open and closed rhinoplasty approaches, structural grafting, dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, and functional airway improvement techniques.

With more than 20 years of experience and a practice dedicated exclusively to facial plastic surgery, Dr. Zakhary is committed to advancing surgical education through academic teaching, professional workshops, and active leadership as the current President of the Canadian Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (CAFPRS).
