Statewide Resources to Help Texans Through the Summer

Reliant’s summer support programs are designed to address the most urgent needs of Texans during the hottest months of the year. Key initiatives include:

• Beat the Heat Cooling Centers: This statewide program has grown to 40 cooling centers across Texas, hosted in partnership with local governments and nonprofits. Reliant is funding and supporting air-conditioned community spaces where residents can escape the heat safely and comfortably. New for 2025, the program is expanding to McAllen and will continue across Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi and Lubbock.

• Portable AC Units and Fans: Through its Beat the Heat partnerships, Reliant funds more than 1,200 cooling devices provided to eligible seniors and families across the state without access to adequate air conditioning.

• Payment Assistance: Reliant and its parent company NRG Energy, Inc. have committed nearly $1 million in funding to directly support eligible customers struggling to pay their electricity bills through the CARE (Community Assistance by Reliant Energy) program. Smart Solutions for Texans Looking to Take Control

While many Texans need immediate relief, others are looking for long-term ways to manage their energy use and reduce costs.
