Edison International Marks 20th Anniversary of Edison Scholars Program

The Edison Scholars Program supports high school seniors pursuing a STEM-focused college education

ROSEMEAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Edison International is celebrating 20 years of helping to transform the lives of exceptional high school seniors who are passionate about making a difference in the world through science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) via the Edison Scholars Program.

Thirty high school seniors from Southern California Edison’s service area have been selected as 2025 Edison Scholars and will receive $50,000 scholarships that will go toward the college or university of their choice. These students represent the next generation of leaders who have the talent, passion and commitment to address the challenges of today, and the Edison Scholars Program helps empower them to shape sustainable solutions for tomorrow.

“As Southern California rebuilds from the devastating impact of wildfires, we need to develop a future workforce of bright, young minds ready to make our communities stronger and more resilient,” said Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International. “We feel privileged to help our Edison Scholars fulfill their immense potential, and we look forward to seeing their impact on the world in the years to come.”

The in-person surprise announcements are a hallmark of the Edison Scholars program. Each scholar is presented with a giant check in front of their friends, family and educators. Edison International will celebrate the winners together with a special reception held at its company headquarters.

This 20th anniversary class of students joins 790 previous Edison Scholars who have embarked on diverse and fulfilling STEM careers, ranging from computer science, biochemistry, cybersecurity and more. Since 2006, Edison International has awarded these scholarships to high school seniors who live in SCE’s service area, exemplify academic merit and demonstrate financial need. The Edison Scholars Program is funded by shareholders and does not use ratepayer dollars.
