Comcast Names Former Expedia Group, Apple, and DIRECTV Executive Jon Gieselman Chief Growth Officer for Comcast’s Residential US Businesses

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) today announced that Jon Gieselman has joined the company in a newly created role as Chief Growth Officer for the residential domestic businesses of its Connectivity & Platforms segment that reaches more than 64 million homes and businesses in the U.S.

Gieselman will lead the teams responsible for Comcast’s domestic residential businesses, including product and the Xfinity brand strategy across connectivity, wireless and entertainment as well as sales, marketing, acquisition, retention and base management. He will report to Steve Croney, recently named Chief Operating Officer of Comcast’s Connectivity & Platforms division. Gieselman steps into the role on April 28th.

Gieselman led marketing, sales and consumer engagement at major tech and media companies, including Expedia Group, Apple and DIRECTV. He has a track record of consistently delivering revenue and profit growth and a unique background that blends analytical, digital and consumer marketing expertise with breakthrough creative and simple, unified customer experiences.

“Jon is a bold and transformational leader who will bring fresh thinking to our product and growth strategy,” said Croney. “He has decades of experience managing world-class brands in highly competitive markets and is the perfect complement to our team. Whether competing with us at DIRECTV or creating entirely new categories for growth at Expedia Group and Apple, Jon has consistently developed brands and marketing strategies that build loyalty with customers and deliver results.”

“In the industry, Comcast has the most advanced products and services keeping customers connected to their daily lives and more people should understand why they’re so much better off having all of them,” Gieselman said. “When you also think about the incredible global assets of Comcast NBCUniversal, there’s no shortage of creative ways we can drive our connectivity businesses. I loved competing in this category for over a decade so all I can say to my friends and former colleagues is look out, we’re coming.”

Most recently, he served as President, Expedia Brands leading all of Expedia Group’s consumer-facing businesses around the globe where he was instrumental in unifying the company’s go-to-market strategy and successfully driving its digital transformation. Prior to that, Jon was Vice President of Marketing at Apple where he built the marketing function that helped drive hundreds of millions of subscribers across Apple Music, TV+, App Store, Fitness+, News+, Arcade, and Apple Card. He also served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at DIRECTV for ten years during its rise in market share and has held leadership roles in retail, television and fashion.

Inducted into the Advertising Hall of Achievement in 2009, Jon is the winner of 28 Cannes Lions and the recipient of numerous advertising and creative awards. Jon and his wife are relocating to Philadelphia from San Francisco.
