Source Photonics Showcases Industry’s First-Ever 200G/Lane Multi-Channel Monolithic InP PIC to Power 1.6T IMDD Transceiver Technology

WEST HILLS, Calif. & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Source Photonics Inc., a leading global provider of innovative and reliable technology solutions for communications and data connectivity for use in hyperscale and AI datacenters, will be showcasing the industry’s first-ever 200G per lane multi-channel monolithic InP photonic integrated circuit (PIC) single mode intensity-modulation direct-detection (IMDD) technology to support 1.6Tbps and future 3.2Tbps transceivers for intra-data center and campus data center interconnection applications.

Source Photonics, an expert in module packaging, collaborated with its key technology partner to produce and validate the monolithic integrated multi-channel InP PIC-based solution for 1.6T and beyond IMDD datacenter and AI/ML cluster connectivity.

The Source Photonics solution incorporates data center optimized optics with monolithically integrated multi-channel InP-based PIC technology that incorporates DFB lasers and modulators. With a low Vpp driving voltage and high bandwidth, this solution has the potential to deliver the lowest power consumption 1.6Tbps optical transceiver with best-in-class performance for both linear direct-drive (LPO) and retimed optics. This technology also paves a path to enable the next evolutionary 400Gb/s per lane IMDD optical connectivity as well. Source Photonics, an expert in module packaging, collaborated with its key technology partner to produce and validate the monolithic integrated multi-channel InP PIC-based solution for 1.6T and beyond IMDD datacenter and AI/ML cluster connectivity.

“Source Photonics is excited to bring the ground-breaking 1.6Tbps InP multi-channel PIC operating at 200G/lane to power a live IMDD pluggable transceiver demonstration at OFC 2025,” said Dr. John Wang, CEO of Source Photonics. “This successful demonstration of the 1.6Tbps intra-data center optics represents our commitment to investing in the technology innovation and enhancing our leadership in the InP transceivers.”

Live demonstrations of the 200G/lane InP PIC powering a 1.6Tbps optical module with superior eye quality, together with 1.6T, 800G, LPO/LRO and 25/50G PON high-performance optical transceiver solutions will be available at Source Photonics’ booth #2143 at OFC 2025, San Francisco, CA.
