AM Best Places Credit Ratings of Next Insurance US Company Under Review With Positive Implications

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best has placed under review with positive implications the Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-” (Excellent) of Next Insurance US Company (Next US) (headquartered in Palo Alto, CA).

The actions on the Credit Ratings (ratings) reflects Munich Reinsurance Company (Munich Re) and Next Insurance, Inc.'s definitive agreement for the acquisition of Next Insurance, Inc. and its subsidiaries by Munich Re. Next Insurance, Inc. is expected to be part of Munich Re’s subsidiary, Ergo Group AG. The agreement was signed on March 19, 2025, and the transaction is expected to close in third quarter 2025. The positive implications reflect the anticipated synergies associated with Next Insurance, Inc. being part of Ergo Group AG.

The ratings will remain under review subject to customary conditions, including required regulatory approvals and until AM Best can analyze Munich Re's prospective plans for Next US.
