Standard Chartered appoints Mandy DeFilippo as CEO, US and Americas

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Chartered Bank (the “Bank”) has announced the appointment of Mandy DeFilippo as Chief Executive Officer, US and Americas. She replaces Steven Cranwell, who has taken the decision to step down from his role and will be leaving the Bank.

Mandy will join Standard Chartered from Citadel Securities, where she has been Managing Director and COO of Legal and Compliance, and of Risk and Operations. Mandy will assume her new role effective March 24, 2025, subject to relevant approvals. In this role, Mandy will be responsible for advancing and executing the Bank’s strategy in the Americas and will report to Roberto Hoornweg, Co-Head CIB and CEO Europe & Americas & Middle East & Africa.

She joined Citadel Securities in 2022 from Morgan Stanley, where she held a number of senior leadership roles including Global Head of Business Unit Risk Management for the Fixed Income Division, EMEA Head of Business Unit Risk for the Fixed Income Division, and Chief Operating Officer and Risk Officer for Global Capital Markets, EMEA, APAC and Japan. Mandy is a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, and also served as Chair of the International Capital Market Association for several years, the first woman to hold the role in the organization’s 50+ year history.

Roberto Hoornweg, Co-Head of Corporate & Investment Banking and CEO, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa at Standard Chartered, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mandy to Standard Chartered. Her broad experience across financial markets, banking and risk management will be hugely value- additive as we respond to an increasingly wide spectrum of needs among our US and Americas clients for financing, advisory and risk intermediation.”

“I’m excited to join Standard Chartered and to contribute to the Bank’s continued growth in the Americas,” said Mandy. “I’m eager to bring my international experience to an organization with an unparalleled global network and passion for serving its clients, and I look forward to partnering with the Americas team to drive strategic growth and continued success in this important region for the Bank.”
