Hallmark Unveils ‘Changemakers’ Spotlight Program Celebrating Innovative Leaders in Healthcare

New initiative honors trailblazers who leverage Hallmark’s methodology and technology to reshape workforce strategies, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver measurable results

CHARLESTOWN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hallmark, a leading healthcare workforce management technology company, today announced the launch of the Hallmark Changemakers program, an initiative to recognize healthcare leaders using innovative workforce strategies to address workforce challenges and drive transformational change in the industry.

“The Hallmark Changemakers program is our way of shining a spotlight on the true heroes of the healthcare industry—leaders who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. By embracing innovation and the Hallmark way, they are forging a new path that delivers extraordinary results for their organizations,” said Bruce Cerullo, CEO of Hallmark.

Hallmark’s inaugural Changemaker honoree is Trinity Health, one of the nation’s largest multi-state health systems. Trinity is being recognized for partnering with Hallmark to create their own internal staffing agency called ‘FirstChoice’, which provides health care professionals with greater flexibility to choose when and where they work.

Leveraging Hallmark’s internal-first staffing methodology, Trinity created a robust, multi-tiered float pool that combines current employees with newly recruited full-time and part-time talent. Instead of immediately turning to staffing agencies to fill gaps, Trinity first leverages internal resources to match shifts with qualified staff, empowering employees to tailor their schedules while ensuring optimal coverage.

“We maintain a pool of over 3,200 resources that can be deployed at any given time to meet staffing needs across 92 hospitals in 27 states. Hallmark enables us to be efficient, effective and fast at scheduling these mobile teams. We also use the platform to manage the use of our staffing agencies. As a result, my rates are about 15 percent lower than what you see across the country and I’m able to fill 98% of our needs,” said Nicole Roberson, Director of the FirstChoice Program at Trinity Health.

The groundbreaking staffing model has created a more stable and satisfied workforce, while saving the health system millions of dollars. Analysts say more hospitals are following Trinity’s lead and starting their own internal staffing programs to cut down on agency contract labor costs. Roberson offered this advice to others:

“You have to be adaptable. You have to be willing to be flexible within the workforce, listen to them, and talk to them. Ask them what they are looking for – and then go offer that.”

Hallmark will continue to unveil Changemakers throughout the year, sharing case studies, videos and social media posts via #HallmarkChangemakers. Visit the Changemakers website to stay updated on new success stories as they’re made available.
