Pryor Cashman Welcomes Partner Brian Sweet to Trusts + Estates Practice

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pryor Cashman is pleased to announce that Brian Sweet has joined the firm as a partner in the Trusts + Estates Practice. Brian is based in New York and joins Pryor Cashman from Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, where he was counsel. He is the third addition to the firm’s expanding Trust + Estates Practice, following the arrival of partners Paul Van Horn and Erica Howard-Potter last year.

Brian’s practice focuses on estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families, frequently designed to accomplish tax-efficient transfers to family members and charitable organizations. With a varied client base that includes entrepreneurs, executives, and investors, he has developed particular experience helping equity owners in high-growth companies take advantage of planning opportunities in connection with business formations, transitions, and funding rounds. He also has significant experience administering complex estates and counseling clients regarding charitable giving.

“Brian’s impressive background makes him a strong addition to our expanding Trusts + Estates Practice within the Private Client Group, as his capabilities both broaden and deepen the work of our team,” said Ronald Shechtman, managing partner of Pryor Cashman. “He brings an active practice that will further advance our existing group, building upon the arrival of Paul and Erica last year.”

“We’re excited to welcome Brian to the firm, where his experience neatly complements our current practice,” said Daniel Kesten, co-chair of the Trusts + Estates Practice. “His technical tax background and strategic thinking will continue to serve him and his client base very well.”

“I am eager to join the highly talented lawyers at Pryor Cashman, who are widely respected for good reason,” said Brian. “The firm offers a wonderful platform on which to build my practice and address the needs of clients in new ways.”
