Modern Treasury Adds Paul Auvil to Board of Directors

Former VMware and Proofpoint CFO brings deep enterprise leadership experience.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Modern Treasury, the leading payment operations platform built for the Instant Economy, today announced the appointment of Paul Auvil as a new independent board member. Auvil is the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of VMware and Proofpoint. His addition to the Modern Treasury board enhances the strength of the CFO perspective, which is increasingly important as enterprises look to modernize their payment operations.

“Finance teams continue to play a bigger role in the usage, diligence, and purchase of the Modern Treasury platform,” said Dimitri Dadiomov, co-founder and CEO of Modern Treasury. “That, coupled with our growth and aspirations as a company, led us to seek to add an experienced enterprise software CFO to the Modern Treasury board of directors. I am pleased to welcome Paul.”

Auvil brings over 35 years of finance, technology, and corporate leadership to Modern Treasury’s board. He has served in executive and board roles at private and public companies and has a proven record of scaling software businesses. During his 16-year tenure as CFO of Proofpoint, the company scaled from $20 million in annual recurring revenue to $1.6 billion. During that time, he took the company public and orchestrated 27 acquisitions. Before that, Auvil served as VMware’s CFO.

“Modern Treasury is leading the payments evolution, transforming this back office bottleneck into a powerful growth lever as the Instant Economy takes hold. I’m impressed with the team Dimitri has built, the quality of customers they support, and the scale at which they operate,” Auvil said. “I look forward to working with the Modern Treasury team as they embark on their next phase of growth.”

Modern Treasury delivers payment operations for a real-time world. The company helps businesses with their money movement and the operations around it, particularly when those payment operations are mission-critical. Demand for Modern Treasury’s platform is driven by businesses needing faster, more efficient systems to track payments and respond to customer needs in real-time.

Auvil’s experience will assist at all levels of Modern Treasury’s success. In addition to his operator roles, Auvil is an experienced board member. He has served on boards that include Elastic, One Medical, Marin Software, Cerebras, and others. He was also a former entrepreneur-in-residence with Benchmark Capital, CFO of Vitria Technology, and executive at VLSI Technology. He holds an M.M. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Dartmouth College.
