Milliman wins “Climate and sustainability consultancy of the year” in 2024 InsuranceERM Awards

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Milliman, Inc., a premier global actuarial, consulting, and risk management firm, today announced that the firm has won “Climate and sustainability consultancy of the year” in the 2024 InsuranceERM Climate Risk & Sustainability awards.

According to InsuranceERM, the Climate Risk and Sustainability awards recognize “individuals, teams, and companies that surpass client expectations and are the leaders in climate risk management.”

Milliman earned “consultancy of the year” for the firm’s collaborative and innovative leadership. Judges praised the firm for creating the Milliman Climate Resilience Initiative (MCRI), a global, multi-disciplinary team that is helping insurers, communities, and governments better understand and quantify climate risks, and for supporting clients globally on this complex issue.

“The firm is helping produce more meaningful climate scenario testing by performing independent evaluations of available catastrophe and climate models, helping insurers manage new and diverse data sources, and adapting these models and data to meet the unique business needs of each insurer,” said Nancy Watkins, a principal at Milliman and chair of the MCRI.

The judges also singled out a number of initiatives, including the firm’s collaboration with the UN Development Programme, its leadership on the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Data Commons project, and Milliman’s work with the Society of Actuaries on the first certificate program focused on measuring and managing climate risk for actuaries.

“With more than 75 years leveraging its deep expertise, actuarial rigor, and advanced technology, Milliman is proud to be recognized for its work helping clients in the public and private sectors navigate urgent, complex challenges, and providing solutions for a world at risk,” said Dermot Corry, CEO of Milliman.
