Fey, “Oscar” Ivan Treviño, Helen Ochoa, Jacqie Rivera join attendees at kickoff for annual nationwide radio fundraiser

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Celebrities, content creators and members of Spanish-language media celebrated 25 years of Promesa y Esperanza® as they gathered this weekend to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®: Finding cures. Saving children.®

Artists such as singer Fey, Helen Ochoa, Jacqie Rivera, “Oscar” Ivan Treviño, Mario Bautista, iconic Latin boy band Menudo, Jesus Diaz also known as Chef Yisus and content creators Ivan Emilio Albino, Ezequial & Jeremiah Cardenas, Carlos Flores, Christian Maldonado, Noe Zepeda and more joined guests from TelevisaUnivision and Latino radio stations from across the country in preparation for the national Promesa y Esperanza radio event which kicks off Dec. 5, 2024. Attendees toured the St. Jude campus and heard from patients, families, researchers and doctors about the ongoing work by St. Jude to cure childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The event included performances from guest artists, tours of St. Jude and a celebratory dinner for the 13 Univision markets attending, along with many other Spanish-format radio outlets from across the U.S.

“As part of Uforia’s continued commitment to informing, empowering and entertaining the Hispanic community across the United States, we are proud to leverage our platform to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Ismar Santa Cruz, SVP, Radio Content for Uforia at TelevisaUnivision.

The December event, an annual two-day radiothon, helps raise funds and awareness for the mission of St. Jude among Latino audiences, with Uforia Radio stations from coast to coast calling on listeners to support St. Jude with a monthly donation through the Ángeles de Esperanza program. More than 300,000 monthly donors have signed up since the program began.

“Promesa y Esperanza showcases the power of communities coming together to support the families of St. Jude and help the more than 400,000 children worldwide impacted by cancer each year,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are so appreciative for the support of our media partners and celebrities, as well as their audiences. They help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live. They are all part of our St. Jude family and together we won’t stop until no child dies in the dawn of life.”
