Travelers Institute Announces Fall Schedule for Cybersecurity Symposia

Government officials and business leaders join Travelers public policy experts to host three educational events about cybersecurity across the United States

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Travelers Institute, the public policy division of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), today announced the continuation of its Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore® series with three in-person symposia scheduled this fall. These events provide practical tips and resources to help businesses adapt to the evolving landscape of cybersecurity.

“The operational and financial fallout from cyberattacks can be devastating for any business, highlighting the need for leaders to implement proactive cybersecurity strategies,” said Joan Woodward, President of the Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public Policy at Travelers. “We are looking forward to hitting the road again, bringing invaluable expertise and resources directly to businesses and helping them stay ahead of emerging cyber threats.”

Sessions will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and opportunities to engage with cybersecurity experts from Travelers, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Mullen Coughlin and other organizations.

Schedule Details

The first event is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Washington, D.C.

Opening remarks will be provided by David Hincapie, Lender Relations Specialist, Veteran Business Development Officer, Washington Metropolitan Area District Office, SBA; and John Green, President of the Washington, D.C. Metro Chapter, National African American Insurance Association. A panel moderated by Woodward will feature Arielle Baine, Chief of Cybersecurity, Region 3, CISA; Tim Francis, Enterprise Cyber Lead, Travelers; and Carolyn Purwin Ryan, Partner, Mullen Coughlin.

Other upcoming events will be held in Irvine, California, on Oct. 10 and in Philadelphia on Oct. 30.

“Technology is integrated into every aspect of our lives – a single cyber incident can have a ripple effect across industries and borders, highlighting our interconnected world,” said Baine. “As threats grow in complexity, ensuring the resilience of our critical infrastructure is paramount. CISA understands these challenges and offers no-cost, voluntary national and regional services to help organizations anticipate and withstand cyberattacks.”

In addition to the live events, the Travelers Institute will be hosting a Wednesdays with Woodward® webinar on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. ET., titled, “Get Cyber Ready: Best Practices for Navigating Today’s Biggest Threats.” During the session, Tony Collings, Cybersecurity State Coordinator for Illinois, Region 5, at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; Renee Wynn, former Chief Information Officer at NASA; and Tim Francis, Enterprise Cyber Lead at Travelers, will provide insights into the latest cyber threats and essential practices for safeguarding networks, devices and data.
