The Standard Volunteer Expo Helps People Give Back in a Big Way

The public is welcome to connect with local nonprofits on Sept. 5 at Pioneer Courthouse Square to learn about a variety of volunteer opportunities

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Standard is once again hosting the Volunteer Expo at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Now in its 16th year, the event features representatives from more than 100 local nonprofits available to help volunteers connect with opportunities to give back to their communities and causes they care about.

“We are excited to be back in Pioneer Square this year surrounded by dozens of incredible nonprofits,” said Dan McMillan, president and chief executive officer at The Standard. "We take pride in helping connect Oregonians with volunteer opportunities at local nonprofits that strengthen our communities. Please join us in downtown Portland on Sept. 5 to learn more about these great organizations and ways you can get involved."

The Standard has a long history of supporting nonprofits that make a positive difference in our communities. For more than a decade, the Volunteer Expo has provided an opportunity for volunteers and nonprofits to connect.

Participating organizations represent health, human services, childhood education, arts, culture, humanities, the environment, animal welfare and more.

The Volunteer Expo is the largest of its kind in Oregon. This free event also kicks off The Standard Employee Giving Celebration, which recognizes and celebrates the generosity of employees who donate to their favorite nonprofit organizations through the company’s year-round giving program. Last year, employees raised $5.5 million (after the company double match) to support 2,562 nonprofits and schools.
