The Spun’s “Top 64 Most Annoying People in Football Media” Tournament Down to Sweet 16

Over 40,000 people voted in Rounds 1 and 2. Sweet 16 voting kicks off today.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Over 40,000 sports fans cast their vote online last week when The Spun kicked off their 64 Most Annoying People in Football Media tournament.

The first two rounds had some surprising upsets including beloved ESPN college football analyst and No. 14 seed, Lee Corso, taking down No. 3 seed Terry Bradshaw. Other upsets included No. 11 seed Keyshawn Johnson beating out No. 6 seed Joe Buck, and No. 10 seed Emmanuel Acho taking down No. 7 seed Darren Rovell.

“This is a fun, tongue-in-cheek tournament,” said The Spun’s editor-in-chief, Andrew Holleran. “The Spun has hosted similar tournaments in the past between 2016-2019, but this is the first time we’ve done one strictly for football media. It’s in jest and a fun way to celebrate the upcoming season. We’ll crown our champion next week, right before NFL Week 1 games kick off.”

In this year’s tournament, three of the No. 1 seeds (Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless and Nick Wright) and one No. 2 seed (Paul Finebaum) garnered the most votes.

In the 2019 bracket, Wright was a No. 16 seed and made a Cinderella run to win it all. Other past winners include Jemele Hill and Stephen A. Smith.
