Lieutenant General Mary O’Brien Joins Academy Securities’ Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Academy Securities, a registered broker-dealer, certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), today announced the addition of Lieutenant General Mary O’Brien to its Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group.

Lieutenant General Mary O’Brien retired from the United States Air Force after more than 34 years of service. In her last position, she led the Joint Staff Directorate of Command, Control, Communications and Computers (J6), where she provided Joint Force command and control guidance, and evaluated requirements, plans, programs, and strategies for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Her previous positions include serving as the Director of Intelligence at U.S. Cyber Command, and as the Air Force Director of ISR and Cyber Effects Operations, where she was the senior advisor to the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff for all aspects of intelligence, cyber, and electromagnetic spectrum operations. General O’Brien commanded at the squadron, group, wing, and numbered air force levels and her deployments included a tour in Afghanistan as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence.

General O’Brien was commissioned upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree in organization management from George Washington University and is a distinguished graduate of the Air War College with a master’s degree in strategic studies. The National Defense University’s College of Information and Cyberspace recognized General O’Brien with the Rear Admiral Grace Hopper Award for advancing the fields of information and cyberspace in the national security community and she was presented with the Sea Service Leadership Association North Star Award at the 2023 Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium.
