Over 550 Districts Choose Lexia Core5 Reading or Lexia PowerUp Literacy as Their Literacy Programs of Choice in Recent Months

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Educators are becoming increasingly aware of the science of reading’s positive impact on literacy learning. In the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, more than 550 districts across 48 states and the District of Columbia purchased or renewed licenses for Lexia Core5 Reading (Core5) and Lexia PowerUp Literacy (PowerUp). Developed by Lexia, a Cambium Learning Group brand, both programs are science of reading-based adaptive blended learning programs that provide students with personalized learning paths.

Core5 accelerates the foundational and advanced literacy skills for all students—from at-risk to on-level and advanced—in elementary grades. The research-proven program provides students with a systematic and structured approach to phonological awareness, oral language, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. PowerUp is an intervention for non-proficient and struggling readers in middle and high schools. The program blends online student-driven instruction with offline teacher-delivered lessons and activities to simultaneously address gaps in fundamental literacy skills while building higher-order analytical skills.

“Those 550 districts constitute over 1,375 schools that chose Core5 or PowerUp,” said Lexia President, Nick Gaehde. “Literacy forms the foundation for all other learning, and it is deeply gratifying that so many schools and districts have trusted us to provide the support they need to make that meaningful change in students’ lives.”

Gaehde continued, “Let’s not forget that the teachers play a central role in these implementations, and that the students will benefit greatly from having both access to cutting-edge technology along with the talent, dedication, and commitment of their teaching staff and administrators.”

Today, nearly 6.8 million students are improving their reading and language proficiency using Lexia literacy programs. These award-winning programs have been nationally recognized and proven effective in numerous peer-reviewed, research-based studies published in scientific journals such as The Journal of Educational Research and Reading and Writing.
