Seyfarth Continues to Grow Dallas Office with Addition of Prominent Labor & Employment Lawyer Alan Marcuis

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the arrival of partner Alan Marcuis to the firm’s labor & employment department. Marcuis joins Seyfarth from Hunton Andrews Kurth, where he was a partner in the labor & employment law practice and served as co-head of the Unfair Competition & Information Task Force focusing on matters involving unfair competition and employee raiding, labor management relations and labor litigation and complex employment litigation.

“As we continue to expand our footprint in Dallas, we are excited to welcome someone with Alan’s background and expertise as a founding member of the office’s employment law practice,” said Amy Simpson, Seyfarth’s Dallas office managing partner. “There are significant opportunities for the practice in Dallas, and I look forward to working with Alan as we continue growing the office with entrepreneurial and high-quality attorneys.”

Marcuis defends and develops strategies for companies throughout the country in complex labor and employment law matters, including contract, trade secret and post-employment restrictive covenants, EEOC litigation, collective bargaining and labor relations. His practice touches on several industries, including financial services, food, hospitality and telecommunications, but has a particular focus on community banks, for which he effectively becomes outside general counsel. He also routinely represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board regarding unfair labor practice charges of all types.

“With more than two decades of experience, Alan brings a wealth of knowledge that will add even more depth to our practice group, both in Dallas and nationally,” said Laura Maechtlen, labor & employment department chair. “As our first labor & employment partner in Dallas, Alan’s arrival puts us on solid footing as we continue to grow the practice.”

Opened in September 2023, Seyfarth’s Dallas office is the firm’s 18th globally and 13th in the United States. The office complements Seyfarth’s long-established presence in Houston by enabling the firm to serve Dallas-based clients more locally and enhance the firm’s visibility in Texas for client development, litigation in local courts, and recruiting across the state.

“Seyfarth’s footprint in labor & employment matters has long been one I’ve admired, and the firm’s continued commitment to the practice made it an easy choice for the next chapter of my career,” said Marcuis. “That, coupled with the opportunity to serve as a leader in the Dallas employment practice, is one I could not miss.”

Marcuis received his B.A. from the University of Texas and his J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of Law. He is licensed to practice in Texas.
