Motorola Solutions Named to Fast Company’s List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2024

Company’s safety and security technologies recognized for enabling critical collaboration between public safety and enterprises

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Motorola Solutions today announced that it has again been named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies. Motorola Solutions was selected for its safety and security ecosystem focused on solving for safer communities, safer schools and safer businesses.

Fast Company recognized Motorola Solutions for its safer schools innovations. To respond to school emergencies like medical incidents or active security threats, three key parties must have the capability to collaborate in real-time: school staff and safety officers; the 9-1-1 call center taking information and directing resources; and first responders like police, fire and EMS. Motorola Solutions’ technology helps connect the right people with the right information for a more proactive approach to safety and security.

“Motorola Solutions is centered on safety, and one of our innovation priorities is to enable safer schools,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Motorola Solutions. “In an emergency when seconds count, our solutions can automate detections and actions, facilitate collaboration and information sharing and help accelerate investigations. We’re fueled by our passion to build technologies that can connect those in need with those who can help.”

The company has made significant investments, about $12 billion in organic R&D and acquisitions over the last ten years, building a safety and security ecosystem spanning mission-critical communications, video security and access control and command center solutions powered by artificial intelligence. The same technologies that have long been relied upon by public safety agencies are now being deployed by organizations including schools. Connecting public safety agencies and private enterprises helps to close communication and collaboration gaps, saving time that’s critical when it’s estimated that reducing response times by even one minute could save 10,000 lives per year.

“Having a communications pathway that allows school personnel, 9-1-1 and first responders to connect on one platform has been a lifesaver,” said Kurt Mills, executive director, Snohomish County 9-1-1, a county near Seattle, Washington. “We had an active shooter event in a school and learned how valuable [Motorola Solutions’ technology] is for communication and collaboration. The technology has been invaluable during other emergencies [too], such as medical incidents, fights and severe weather.”

Fast Company’s prestigious, annual list recognizes organizations that have introduced groundbreaking products, implemented novel business strategies, fostered positive social impact and reshaped industries through their transformative approaches.

“When schools are safe, kids are free to learn, grow and dream. I’m proud of the work we’re doing to help deliver next-generation safety for the next generation of innovators so they can grow up, solve problems and change our world for the better,” Saptharishi said.
