Miovision Buys a Customer

Company’s fifth acquisition aims to develop a deeper understanding of the traffic data collection business

KITCHENER, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Miovision, whose scalable intelligent transportation solutions help cities reduce traffic congestion while improving safety, has made its fifth acquisition: CJ Hensch & Associates, a Texas corporation specializing in traffic data collection and engineering studies.

Established in 1995, CJ Hensch provides superior traffic data collection services for governmental agencies, engineering firms, and developers throughout the state of Texas. The company was an early-adopter of Miovision Scout, a solution that continues to be a vital tool they use every day for multimodal traffic data collection.

“One of the values that has contributed to Miovision’s success is taking a Customer First approach,” said Miovision Co-Founder and CEO Kurtis McBride. “Deeply understanding our customer’s challenges – and how they work – has enabled us to develop really compelling solutions. Acquiring CJ Hensch will help us more deeply understand the data collection business. These insights that will shape the evolution of our products, helping all our Scout customers to better serve their clients – and grow their businesses.”

To ensure Miovision can learn as much as it can from CJ Hensch, it will be established as a stand-alone business unit. Roger Allen, CJ Hensch’s long-serving vice president, will remain, providing valuable institutional knowledge. Miovision has hired Marshall Cheek, a traffic industry veteran, to serve as the unit’s new general manager, tasked with finding new opportunities within the business.

“Municipalities and agencies require more traffic data than ever before – with far more detail and deeper insights,” said CJ Hensch General Manager Marshall Creek. “Finding affordable ways to meet these growing needs is a huge opportunity – one I’m excited to work with our customers and Miovision to explore.”

CJ Hensch is Miovision’s fifth acquisition in addition to Traffop (signal performance measures), Rapid Flow (adaptive signal control), MicroTraffic (safety analytics) and Global Traffic Technologies - GTT (traffic signal preemption & priority).
