Lyons & Simmons Partner Stephen Higdon Honored by D Magazine

Higdon earns fourth Best Lawyers Under 40 Selection

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stephen Higdon, partner at the trial firm Lyons & Simmons LLP has been named among the Best Lawyers Under 40 by D Magazine.

It is his fourth selection to the annual listing of North Texas’ leading young lawyers based upon his representation of plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury matters.

Higdon has extensive trial experience in cases involving catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and complex business litigation. Recently, he was instrumental in securing a seven-figure settlement for the widow of a man killed in 2022 by a drunk driver traveling the wrong way on the President George Bush Turnpike. His work helped force the closure of Pete’s Wings & Drinks, the Garland establishment where the driver had been significantly overserved earlier in the evening.

In addition to the D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40, he has earned recognition from Texas Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, and Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers.

Higdon earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Southwestern University. He started his legal career clerking for the Hon. Michael H. Schneider in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas where he was responsible for hundreds of complex civil and criminal cases and participated in trials ranging from product liability to complex business disputes.

The Best Lawyers Under 40 list is compiled based on peer nominations, followed by a close review from an independent panel of distinguished attorneys working in conjunction with D Magazine's editors. The 2024 edition is published as part of the magazine’s January 2024 issue.
