Pryor Cashman Elevates Two Practice Chairs, Elects Five New Partners, and Promotes Four to Counsel

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pryor Cashman is pleased to announce the elevation of Ilene Farkas to co-chair of the Litigation Group and Dyan Finguerra-DuCharme to co-chair of the Intellectual Property Group, and the election of Desiree Goldfinger, Andrew Goldsmith, Felicity Kohn, Joseph Micali, and Taylor Weinstein to the firm’s partnership. The firm also elevated Joshua Greenberg, Islame Hosny, Matthew Marcus, and Eric Wisotsky to counsel.

All promotions were effective on January 1, 2024.

Pryor Cashman Managing Partner Ronald H. Shechtman said in a statement, “This group of talented attorneys taking on new roles as practice leaders, partners, and counsel perfectly reflects the growth and ongoing success of our firm. I am excited to see their energy dedicated to the service of our clients and the assumption of leadership roles in the firm.”

Our newly elevated practice leaders:

  • Ilene Farkas is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and co-chair of the Litigation Group and the Music Group; she is also a member of the Intellectual Property and Media + Entertainment Groups, and co-chair of the Copyright, M+E Litigation, and Music Litigation Practices. Ilene made headlines for representing Ed Sheeran, Warner Music, and Sony Music Publishing in a landmark copyright jury trial victory, defeating the claim that Sheeran’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud” infringes the Marvin Gaye song “Let’s Get It On.”
  • Dyan Finguerra-DuCharme is co-chair of the Intellectual Property Group; she is also co-chair of the Fashion Group and a member of the Litigation and Media + Entertainment Groups. Dyan provides hands-on, end-to-end service for a diverse roster of IP clients, litigating trademark and copyright cases in federal and state courts, along with managing large-scale trademark vigilance programs, prosecuting trademarks globally, advising on U.S. trademark availability, and providing overall trademark portfolio management.

More about our newly elected partners:

  • Desiree Goldfinger is a member of the Immigration Group, where she practices exclusively in the field of federal immigration and nationality law, with a focus on nonimmigrant visas and permanent residence.
  • Andrew Goldsmith is a member of the Litigation Group, where his practice focuses on commercial litigation, entertainment and intellectual property litigation, and real estate litigation.
  • Felicity Kohn is a member of the Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Media + Entertainment Groups, where she handles a wide range of intellectual property and complex commercial matters in the fashion, entertainment, publishing, media, luxury goods, and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Joseph Micali is a member of the Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups, where he provides strategic counsel on domestic and international patent matters for pioneering innovators, emerging companies, and multinational corporations.
  • Taylor Weinstein is a member of the Tax and Investment Management Groups, where she advises on the tax aspects of a broad range of corporate matters, including the formation and structuring of private investment funds, mergers + acquisitions, financings, and securities offerings.

And our newly promoted counsel:

  • Joshua Greenberg is a member of the Media + Entertainment Group and the Digital Media, M+E Transactions + Financing, Film, TV + Podcast, and Trademark Practices, where his practice focuses on intellectual property, business, and commercial transactional law in the digital media, entertainment, and technology industries.
  • Islame Hosny is a member of the Tax Group, where his practice focuses on mergers + acquisitions, investment management, private equity, and federal income tax matters.
  • Matthew Marcus is a member of the Family Law Group, where his practice focuses on litigating and untangling complex matrimonial disputes involving equitable distribution, custody, visitation, child support, and spousal support.
  • Eric Wisotsky is a member of the Corporate Group, where he counsels clients on mergers + acquisitions, recapitalizations, reorganizations, SEC and regulatory filings, and other general corporate matters.
