Bell Law Firm Files Lawsuit Against Krevolin & Horst, LLC

Complaint cites abusive litigation and defamation from two of the firm’s partners, Halsey Knapp, Jr. and Jessica Cino

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bell Law Firm today confirms the filing of a lawsuit on behalf of Lloyd Bell against Krevolin & Horst, LLC and two of that firm’s partners, Halsey G. Knapp, Jr. and Jessica G. Cino, alleging abusive litigation and defamation.

Krevolin Horst represented Lawrence Schlachter in litigation against Lloyd Bell in Georgia Statewide Business Court. Bell’s lawsuit against Krevolin Horst alleges that during a legal campaign against Bell, Krevolin Horst became increasingly vitriolic and reckless, defaming Bell both in and out of court.

Bell’s complaint alleges that Krevolin & Horst:

  • Filed a lawsuit frivolously asking the court to force an attorney’s former clients to take him back.
  • Inadvertently indicated they had not researched and were unaware of the law governing their lawsuit against Bell.
  • Abandoned pre-suit negotiations in favor of a doomed legal campaign that not only injured Bell, but injured Krevolin & Horst’s own client, Schlachter.
  • Publicly filed a confidential email, the exposure of which threatened the interests of Schlachter’s former client, so that Bell had to file an emergency motion to seal the email.
  • Made false and defamatory statements to the press.
  • Delayed Bell’s eventual settlement payment to Schlachter in an attempt to secure a private benefit for themselves.

Before filing the lawsuit against Krevolin Horst, Bell offered to waive all claims against Krevolin Horst and forego monetary recovery if Krevolin Horst issued a public retraction of their claim that Bell had acted in bad faith in his dealings with Schlachter. Krevolin Horst refused.
