SMBC Hires Paul Burke to Lead New Capital Solutions Group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), a member of SMBC Group, today announced that Paul Burke has joined the firm to lead a newly created Capital Solutions Group.

Based in New York, Paul will work across the SMBC Americas Division banking businesses to evolve balance sheet optimization strategies, while advising clients on loan portfolio and capital optimization transactions, with a focus on financial institutions and sponsor clients.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Paul joins SMBC from Morgan Stanley where he spent over 12 years working in both New York and London. He most recently served as the Head of Securitized Products Capital Markets in New York. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he worked in London in various banking roles at firms including Nomura and Royal Bank of Scotland. Paul started his career at Deloitte and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
