AltaLink Recognized for Reliability Management and Earns Seventh Consecutive Safety Excellence Award

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Last night, during Electricity Canada's Powering Partnerships reception in Ottawa, AltaLink was recognized with two awards for achievements in both reliability management and safety performance.

“As Alberta's largest electricity transmission provider, Albertans depend on us to deliver the energy that they need, when they need it. We take that responsibility seriously,” said Gary Hart, AltaLink President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are proud of our long-term trend of improving reliability and resiliency through operating practices and proactive capital investment, and I'm delighted that our team is once again being recognized for their focus and commitment to keeping each other safe.”

AltaLink receives Resiliency and Reliability Award
AltaLink was honoured with the Electricity Canada Resiliency and Reliability Award, which recognizes member utilities that display excellence in asset management, innovation in reliability, outage communications and overall reliability and resiliency management.

AltaLink is in the top quartile of Canadian electric utilities for outage duration and outage frequency. In 2022, AltaLink achieved its best-ever annual result for reliability.

“It’s all in the data. AltaLink has shown incredible dedication to their reliability and resiliency performance. Many Canadians don’t understand the complexity of ensuring a safe and reliable grid and we are proud to showcase AltaLink’s achievements today,” said Francis Bradley, President and CEO, Electricity Canada.

AltaLink awarded for safety excellence for the seventh consecutive year
AltaLink was also proud to accept the President's Award for Safety Excellence in Transmission for the seventh year in a row.

Electricity Canada offers the safety excellence award to corporate utilities of comparable size in generation, transmission, or distribution operations that achieve the top ranking in Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF). AltaLink was once again the top performer in the transmission category for companies with 300-1,500 full-time employees.

AltaLink has several proactive programs and procedures in place to reduce risks and hazards in the workplace. This includes setting company-wide participation rate targets in reporting hazards and near misses to proactively remove hazards from the workplace and share learnings from near misses.

Headquartered in Calgary, with offices in Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge, AltaLink is Alberta's largest electricity transmission provider. AltaLink is partnering with its customers to provide innovative solutions to meet the province's demand for reliable and affordable energy. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, AltaLink is part of a global group of companies delivering energy services to customers worldwide.
