Former National Cyber Director Chris Inglis Joins Semperis’ Strategic Advisory Board

Former White House cyber czar teams up with Semperis to help bolster identity threat detection and response (ITDR) in the public sector

HOBOKEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Semperis, a pioneer in identity-driven cyber resilience, today announced the appointment of former National Cyber Director Chris Inglis to its strategic advisory board. In his role, Inglis will support the company as it pursues its mission to deliver the industry’s most comprehensive identity system defense, with a special focus on protecting critical infrastructure for the United States and its allies around the world. Inglis’ appointment follows announcements from Semperis of aggressive expansion into the public sector and other strategic advisory board appointments, such as the addition of former CIA Director General Petraeus.

“Chris Inglis is arguably the greatest expert in our country when it comes to cybersecurity and its increasing importance to our national security,” said Petraeus. “I worked with Chris when I was the Commander in Iraq and Afghanistan and then the CIA Director, and I am absolutely delighted that he is joining Semperis’ effort to dramatically increase the effectiveness of identity system defense in the public and private sectors.”

Identity systems such as Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), and Okta are used in enterprises across all industry sectors, and government agencies are under sustained attack. With a multi-layered approach to defense before, during, and after an attack, Semperis offers the industry’s most comprehensive security technology for hybrid AD and other identity systems, combined with incident response expertise.

“Ransomware and identity-based attacks are on the rise, and no one is immune from the threat,” said Inglis. “Unfortunately, public sector organizations are prime targets for cyberattacks because of common vulnerabilities, including legacy infrastructure misconfigurations, lack of identity security expertise, and limited resources. I am eager to get started working with Semperis to address the heightened need for identity threat detection and response among state, local, and federal governments.”

Chris joins Semperis following a distinguished career across the US military and government, including serving as the country's first National Cyber Director and as Deputy Director of the National Security Agency. Prior to stepping down as National Cyber Director earlier this year, he led work on President Joe Biden's National Cybersecurity Strategy. He has received numerous awards for his service, including the President's National Security Medal, the US Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, and the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Service on two occasions.

"More than anyone, Chris knows what it takes to keep critical systems, infrastructure, and sectors resilient to cyberattacks," said Semperis CEO Mickey Bresman. "His track record speaks for itself. But beyond his cyber expertise, Chris also shares our philosophy of being a force for good as a strong advocate for training, inclusion, and hiring within the cyber workforce. We’re incredibly lucky to have his guidance, wisdom, and support as we continue to scale and deliver on the massive demand for identity-based security solutions in the public sector."

Among other industry recognitions, Semperis ranked in the top 10 of America’s 100 fastest-growing veteran-owned and operated businesses. Semperis is accelerating global hiring across all functions to extend support for the company’s rapidly expanding customer base, with an emphasis on its identity-focused incident response team.
