2023 Science of Reading Week Attendees Averaged 2,400+ Daily – Lexia Makes Webinars Available On Demand

School and district leaders, preK-12 teachers, librarians, and education technology leaders now have on-demand access to webinar recordings from popular event

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--​​After record-breaking attendance at the initial Science of Reading Week edWebinars held by Lexia, a Cambium Learning Group company, K12 educators and administrators will now have another opportunity to learn about aligning teaching practices with scientifically-researched methods. Recordings of the dynamic and thought-provoking edWebinars are now available on demand at the Lexia website.

In each edWebinar, industry thought leaders and Lexia’s own literacy experts discussed ways to accelerate students’ literacy gains. Cassandra Wheeler, senior manager of LETRS State Success at Lexia, served as moderator for each of the webinars while presenters unpacked the science of reading through the lens of national public perception, equity, and implementation as well as teachers’ roles and responsibilities.

She and Dr. Brooke held a fireside chat about the necessity of high-quality professional learning for educators, how LETRS came to be and what’s needed to keep kids on the right literacy track today.

Ask Me Anything with Donna Hejtmanek
Donna Hejtmanek is a former teacher, reading specialist, legislative champion, and the owner of the popular Facebook group “Science of Reading–What I Should Have Learned in College.” She answered questions about the science of reading, implementation, and best practices to help students succeed.

Beyond the Brain: What Neuroscience Can Teach Us About Equity
In this edWebinar, Horacio Sanchez, the president and CEO of Resiliency Inc. discussed brain science with Maya Goodall, Lexia’s senior director of Emergent Bilingual Curriculum, and Kerri Larkin, Lexia’s senior strategic partnership development manager. Cassandra Wheeler asked questions of the three for a discussion around the next steps in the fight to make sure all students learn to read.
